I recently came across a bottle of Formaldehyde 37% Solution 3785ml in my storage room. I know it's a strong chemical used for preserving biological specimens and as a disinfectant. However, I'm not sure about the safe handling and disposal procedures. Can anyone share their experience with this chemical? What precautions should one take while handling it? Also, I've heard it can cause severe skin and lung irritation. Should I be worried about long-term exposure? Also isnt formaldehyde used in so many products, isn't it dangerous?

What about long-term storage? Should it be kept in a specific type of container?

I spilled some on my arm once and it burned like hell. Never again. Be very careful handling this stuff. Take it seriously, it's no joke.

I've used it in a lab setting for years. The key is to never inhale the fumes and to always wash your hands thoroughly after handling it. Also, always have a plan for disposal, as you can't just pour it down the drain.

I recently read that some people use it as a skin disinfectant. Not worth the risk in my opinion. Why do so many industries use it in products, aren't they worried about consumers?
