I've been taking Fosamax for about six months now to manage my osteoporosis. I've had some pretty rough side effects, so I wanted to reach out and see if anyone else has had similar issues! I've experienced some stomach upset, and I am worried about the long term risks. The side effects sound terrifying! Is anyone else nervous about the jawbone problems? I've also seen some mixed information about the effectiveness. Does it really prevent fractures? I would love to hear your experiences and advice. P.S. Any tips on how to manage the stomach upset would be great! I know that these medications aren't one size fits all, so I'd love to hear from anyone who has had a positive experience with this medication as well.

I felt awful at first but then it got better. You need to take it first thing in the morning with no food or drink so maybe that can help you. I've been on it for a year and haven't had issues. You'll be fine!

Be careful with Fosamax! I've heard terrible stories about jawbone problems. I can't imagine dealing with that kind of pain.

I stopped taking Fosamax because the side effects were too much for me. My doctor suggested an alternative treatment, and I'm doing much better now. Maybe it’s worth speaking with your doctor about your options.

I’ve been on it for a year and haven’t had any issues. I know it can be scary. I just took the time to learn about it and I feel like that helped me be able to take it without worry.

I’ve had Fosamax for almost a year now and I've had some bad side effects. I get severe abdominal pain and can't get out of bed some days, I had a bone scan last week and I am definitely not having any bone gain. Is there anyone else that has experienced this? I don’t want to stay on a medication that’s not working and making me feel worse! I’ve been to several doctors and they don’t seem to care. Every time I bring this up they just act like I don’t know what I’m talking about. I’ve been a little worried about my teeth, too. I have gingivitis and I’m scared about any complications. I think I might speak with a dental professional. Perhaps they can give me some insight.
