I've been prescribed Galantamine Hbr 12mg Tablets for my mother who is in the early stages of Alzheimer's. I've read that it can help improve memory and daily functioning, but I'm really concerned about the potential side effects. Has anyone else had experience with this medication? I'd love to hear about your experiences, both positive and negative. Specifically, I'm worried about the urgent side effects like allergic reactions and abnormal heart rhythms. How common are these? Also, if anyone has dealt with severe skin reactions, I'd really appreciate any advice or insights. On a lighter note, I'm curious if anyone has found any uncommon or surprising side effects. Let's help each other out with some real talk.

I've been researching alternatives to Galantamine. Have any of you tried other medications or natural remedies that have worked better?

My mom has been on Galantamine for about a year. She's had some stomach issues but nothing too bad. The biggest issue we've faced is managing her expectations. She thinks the meds will cure her, but we've had to explain that it's just to help slow things down. Also, we've noticed some weight loss, which we're keeping an eye on.

I had to stop Galantamine because of severe skin reactions. It started with a rash and quickly escalated. I ended up in the ER with something called toxic epidermal necrolysis. It was scary, and I'm glad I sought medical help right away.

My aunt was on Galantamine, and she had some really bad skin reactions. It's terrifying to think about. She had to stop taking it immediately. I wish more people talked about these severe side effects so others could be prepared.
