I'm considering the Gardasil 9 vaccine for my daughter. I've heard a lot of positive things about it, but I'm also seeing some worrying side effects listed. Has anyone here had experience with this vaccine? I'd love to hear about it. I am concerned about any potential long-term issues. Any advice or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated. I know this vaccine can help protect against HPV-related cancers and genital warts, but I want to make sure it's safe for her.

I've heard a lot of scary stories, but is anyone here aware of any long-term studies on the side effects of Gardasil 9? Anything scary I should be aware of?

Can someone explain why the HPV vaccine should be given before sexual activity starts? That's when I plan to get my daughters vaccinated

I got the Gardasil 9 vaccine a few years ago and had no issues at all. A bit of soreness at the injection site, but that was it.

I had my daughter vaccinated, and she had a really bad reaction. She was dizzy for a couple of hours and had muscle pain for a few days after. I would recommend keeping your daughter away from Gardasil 9.

It's true that the side effects can be serious, but remember that the risk of such severe reactions is very low. I found it helpful to weigh these against the risks of not getting vaccinated. Gardasil 9 covers a lot of HPV strains, which can be a big relief. I know people that got HPV and had to deal with ongoing yearly HPV warts. It was awful.

I'm worried about the cost of the vaccine. Does anyone know if insurance covers it? I have heard it is pretty expensive, but I'd love to know if my insurance will pay for it.

The vaccine is most effective when given before someone is exposed to HPV, which is why it's often recommended for adolescents. It's really important to get your children vaccinated before they become sexually active, because once you have HPV there is no cure. Once you have it, it's a lifelong disease. Getting the vaccine prevents you from contracting it in the first place. Make sure to educate your children about HPV as well, starting when they are young.
