Gavilyte-G Solution 4000ml: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly - What to Expect Before Your Colonoscopy
So, I've been prescribed Gavilyte-G Solution 4000ml to prep for my upcoming colonoscopy. I've heard horror stories about the prep process, and I'm really nervous. Has anyone else gone through this? What can I expect? I want to make sure I am prepared for all side effects and possible issues that might come up. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!

I just went through this last week. It's not fun, but it's doable. Make sure you stay hydrated and take it slow. Also, give yourself plenty of time to finish the solution. You may want to be close to a toilet, and I mean close..
Trust me, you'll be glad you did it when you're done. I had no issues with the prep, but I did have bad electrolyte imbalances. Just take it slow and if you start feeling dizzy or weak, contact your doctor. They will have you rehydrate and be just fine..
The worst part of my colonoscopy prep was the bloating and feeling full. I felt like I couldn't eat or drink anything else, but I had enough to drink throughout the liquid diet phase. It did make me full and I felt bloating in my stomach
I've had Gavilyte-G for my scope preps for the past five years. I've had no issues. I figured out that I cannot drink the stuff for the first few hours that I take it at 4pm and 8pm. You should take the prep at 4pm and 2am, and then stop drinking it the next day. Then you can have all the liquids you want. I have never had any issues with it. I just drink a lot of water the day before and the day of the procedure. That way I am hydrated enough. It has never caused me any problems.
