I've been prescribed Gemcitabine 200mg Inj for my cancer treatment and I'm feeling a bit nervous about the potential side effects. I am aware that it can cause serious side effects like allergic reactions and high blood sugar. Has anyone else had experience with this medication? What were your experiences with the side effects? Any tips on managing them would be super helpful. I've heard about some rare but serious conditions like posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES) and hemolytic uremic syndrome. My doctor assured me that these are very rare, but it's still scary. How can I best prepare myself for the treatment? Also, are there any supportive measures that can help me manage the treatment better?

This is going to be tough, but stay strong. It's better to be aware of the potential side effects so you can prepare yourself mentally and physically. You'll get through it.

How often are you getting the injections? I had mine weekly and it was a brutal cycle. I felt like I was constantly recovering from the last dose. Also, when it came to the severe dizziness-fainting I had to make sure to take it easy and stay hydrated.

Hair loss really sucked, but knowing it was temporary (as long as it was) helped. I wore hats and scarves until it grew back. The flu symptoms were tough but having a hot bath and staying in bed helped. The fatigue was the worst. Being prepared for the exhaustion and being ok with it helped. I was so weak that I couldn't even lift my arms.

I don't know about the serious side effects, but if you start feeling anything not right, get to the ER ASAP. That goes for everybody. It's always better to be safe.

I had a friend who went through this and she said the flu-like symptoms and fatigue were the worst. She had a lot of success with supportive measures like a balanced diet, frequent rest breaks and hydration. Stick to it, and you'll be fine.

Not sure if this helps, but I had a friend go through this, and she said the flu-like symptoms and fatigue were the worst. Sticking to hydration and rest breaks really helped. You got this.

I'm currently dealing with the mouth sores from Gemcitabine. I use a mouthwash and a gel that my dentist gave me. It helps a bit, but I'm just trying to tough it out until the treatment is over. Also, managing fatigue is a real challenge.

I've been on Gemcitabine for a few months now, and while it's tough, the side effects have been manageable. I lost a lot of hair, but my oncologist recommended a few products that really helped. Constipation was an issue, but diet changes and over-the-counter laxatives made a big difference. I'd recommend talking to your doctor about preventive measures for the side effects before they start.
