I've been struggling with nerve pain after shingles and my doctor prescribed Gralise (Gabapentin 600mg extended-release tablet, once daily). I'm hoping it will help with the pain, but I'm also worried about the side effects. Has anyone else tried this and can share their experience? What are the most important things to watch out for or to ask my doctor about?

The extended-release formulation is supposed to help with the side effects. I guess it doesn't work for everyone. I think it's a good idea to try it, but make sure you talk to your doctor about how you're feeling so that you can switch if it doesn't work for you.

I had a friend who switched to Gralise after he had shingles pain. He said it was a game changer. He was getting over it and his doctor suggested it, and he said it was much better than taking pills multiple times a day.

I had a bad reaction to it. I had these blistering skin problems and just kept feeling worse and worse. I didn't think it was worth it.

The side effects are true, but the pain afterwards is such a relief. I've been on this for a few months now and it's been really helpful. I had to try a few different medications to get it right, but I'm glad I found it.

I never experienced anything like the serious side effects. I really think it's worth trying and seeing if it helps with nerve pain. Besides, serious side effects are rare, but I'm glad you mentioned the serious skin reactions. I'll make sure to keep an eye out for those.

I've been on Gralise for a few months now. It definitely helped with the nerve pain, but I did experience some dizziness and drowsiness at first. My doctor said that's pretty common and should go away with time. Make sure to talk to your doctor about any side effects you experience, even if they seem minor.
