I had an awful reaction to this stuff. I woke up in the middle of the night with hives all over my body and had to rush to the ER. Never taking it again.
If you're worried about side effects, consider talking to your doctor about alternative expectorants or even over-the-counter guaifenesin products. I've had good luck with Mucinex DM.
I've used Guaifenesin a few times and it's always helped loosen the mucus. However, I've found that honey and lemon work just as well for me and don't have any side effects.
I had a friend who took this and ended up with a really bad rash. She had to go to the doctor and everything. Definitely something to be aware of.
I swear by Guaifenesin. I've had bronchitis a few times and it always helps me get better faster. Just be careful and read the label. Yes, the side effects sound scary, but they're rare. I wouldn't let that stop you from using it if you really need it.
Make sure you drink plenty of water when you take this. It can get pretty thick and hard to swallow otherwise. Don't forget to shake the bottle well too!
