Had a reaction to Xalix 28% ER Topical Solution: Is this normal?
I’ve been using Xalix 28% ER Topical Solution for a week now to treat some stubborn calluses. The product contains salicylic acid, which helps to soften and remove hardened skin. However, I’ve started experiencing some skin irritation and dryness. I’m wondering if this is a normal side effect or if I should be concerned. The package insert mentions skin irritation, dry skin, burning or stinging, and peeling as possible side effects, but I’m not sure if it’s severe enough to seek medical attention. Has anyone else had similar experiences? Any advice would be appreciated!

Burning or stinging can be normal, but if you’re experiencing more severe symptoms like mood changes or sudden hearing issues, stop using it immediately and go to the ER.
I can totally relate. When I first started using it, my skin was super dry and irritated. I switched to applying it every other day instead of daily, and that helped a lot. Just be patient and give your skin time to adjust.
I think it’s best to consult your doctor before using it on your feet. Salicylic can be too harsh for sensitive areas.
Maybe it’s the salicylic acid. I heard it can be harsh on some people’s skin. You might want to try a lower percentage or a different brand.
Been there, done that. I used to apply it too frequently and ended up with red, swollen skin. Reducing the frequency helped a lot. Just make sure to follow the instructions carefully.
