I had to get a Sodium Chloride 0.9% Injection yesterday at the hospital due to severe dehydration, and I'm a bit concerned about potential side effects. I understand that allergic reactions can be severe and even life-threatening. I've seen several lists of symptoms, but I'm wondering, how common is it to have a severe allergic reaction?

As someone who’s worked in a hospital, I can tell you that if you have any history of allergic reactions, make sure to inform the medical staff. They might opt for a different solution if necessary.

I’m a medical student and I think one of the most important things is to recognize the signs early. The quicker you act, the better.

I got a rash last time I had one of these. I wish they had some kind of cream or something to prevent that.

I had a similar experience and I must say, it’s pretty rare to have a severe allergic reaction to saline. Just monitor for any hives, rash, or trouble breathing. If anything feels off, go straight to the ER.

I had a pretty bad reaction once. My throat felt tight, and I had trouble breathing. It was scary, but the doctors managed it quickly. Stay alert!

I think the key is to stay calm. If you notice any swelling, especially around your face and throat, seek help immediately.

Just got an IV drip yesterday, too. The nurse was really helpful in explaining everything. It's important to be open about any allergies you might have.

You know, I always wonder why they don’t have a better, less painful way to do this. Still, it’s better than the alternatives.

It's pretty strange to think that something as common as saline can cause such a serious reaction, but I guess anything is possible. Just keep an eye out and you’ll be fine.

They do these things all the time in hospitals. Really, the worst thing is the needle if you're not used to it. Just make sure you’re hydrated after. Good luck!
