If you’re not familiar with the ‘Scientology Run’ challenge, it involves watching every single video and reading every document on Scientology made available to the public in a single month. While some argue that it’s a worthwhile deep dive into an unusual belief system, others think it’s an exercise in futility and madness. Has anyone out there actually done it? What were your takeaways? Did it change your perspective on anything?

I think it’s fascinating how Scientology has managed to create such a vast library of content. It’s almost like a cult binge-watch marathon.

I bet you could make a cult out of anything if you had enough time on your hands.

This reminds me of ‘The Room’: to understand its cult following you have to be a part of it.

I respect the attempt, but it sounds like you were not being true to yourself.

I recommend getting someone to keep your laptop in another room and force you to sleep.

I don't know why anyone would put themselves through that. It’s like willingly inducing a mental breakdown.

I tried it once and had to quit after two weeks. There's just so much stuff and it’s all pretty mind-numbing. Plus, I started seeing patterns in the carpet and questioning the alignment of my furniture. Definitely not worth the mental strain.

I watched a lot of these videos a while back and found that they are all really long and really boring, but I guess that’s the point. It's like a cult's version of a time-sucking app.

I did it as a research project for my sociology class. It's insane how much content there is, and it's all designed to keep you engaged and wanting more. But the information you get is not in any way as valuable as the hours you get sucked into the organization.

I’m not sure what’s crazier: the fact that this ‘Scientology Run’ challenge exists, or that people actually try it.
