I was recently diagnosed with methemoglobinemia, and my doctor prescribed Methylene Blue 1% Inj, 10ml. I've been reading about the side effects and it seems like they are quite severe in some cases. Has anyone here had experience with this medication? I'm particularly worried about the side effects like skin turning blue-green. How common is this? Also, what's the real-life experience like when getting this medication as it is administered by IV injection?

Methylene Blue is used for more than just methemoglobinemia. I had it for a diagnostic test once. The injection site did get a bit irritated, but it wasn't bad. Definitely weird to see my urine turn blue, though.

Don't forget, Methylene Blue can also be used for certain types of dye tests. The side effects are generally mild but the allergic reactions can be severe, so be careful and get immediate help if anything feels off.

I've had this before and the blue-green skin was definitely the weirdest part. It's harmless, though. Just kinda freaky looking.

I worked in a lab that used Methylene Blue for staining. It's a strong dye. The idea of it being injected into someone is a bit unsettling, but it is known to be effective. Definitely talk to your doctor about any concerns!

I had a similar experience with Methylene Blue. The injection was easy, but the color change in my urine and stool was a bit unsettling at first. My doctor reassured me it was normal. It faded after a few days. There were no other serious side effects for me, which was a relief.

I've read that the blue-green discoloration can last for a few days. Just be prepared for that visually odd effect. It's temporary and not harmful at all. Be on the lookout for any other symptoms though, just to be safe. Good luck!

I wish they would make this stuff in a non-dyeing form... But seriously, the blue green stool etc. is not fun to deal with. Stick with your doctor's advice

Be sure to give your doctor a call if you experience any symptoms unrelated to the blue-green urine. My friend had some strange electrolyte issues and it was scary, but she caught it early because her med team had prepped her on signs to look out for.

My cousin had this and the doctor had to administer it via IV in the clinic. It's not a fun thing to google. Stay hydrated and rest up.

I've never had it, but I've heard the blue-green stuff is really common. It's just the dye in the medication. As long as you're not experiencing any severe symptoms like trouble breathing or abnormal heartbeat, you should be okay. Stay proactive and monitor your symptoms!
