Has anyone been prescribed Orfadin 2mg Capsules for Hereditary Tyrosinemia Type 1?
I've recently been prescribed Orfadin 2mg Capsules for the treatment of Hereditary Tyrosinemia Type 1 (HT-1). I want to hear from other users to learn more about the effectiveness and any side effects. I need to follow a low-tyrosine and low-phenylalanine diet along with this medication. I have several questions about the diet and was hoping to learn more about how other people have managed this. Is it very difficult? Given the serious potential side effects, I have some concerns. Has anyone had an issue with these and how did you address them? I'd love to hear as many experiences as possible!

I've heard that some people have issues with the medication. I didn't realize how serious the side effects could be. Are there any long-term effects to worry about?
One thing that helped me was finding a support group for people with HT-1. We share recipes and tips on how to make the diet more manageable. It's made a world of difference.
I’ve been on Orfadin for about a year now, and while the diet has been challenging, the medication has significantly improved my quality of life. It’s all about finding the right balance and working closely with your healthcare team. I recommend keeping a food journal to track what works and what doesn't.
I'm glad you're getting help. I've never heard of this — did your Dr. explain why the special diet is needed?
Seriously though, how do you guys deal with the diet? I've been trying to wrap my head around it and it's so hard to plan meals! Any tips?
I've been on Orfadin for a few years now, and it's been a game-changer. I had to adapt to the specialized diet, but it's definitely manageable. Just make sure you follow the instructions for the diet and work with your nutritionist to get it right.
