I was prescribed Calcitonin nasal spray for osteoporosis and have been using it for about a month. I'm generally experiencing a lot of irritation and nosebleeds. I've read and talked to my doctor about the side effects, but I'm still curious if anyone else has had similar or worse experiences. It's nice the drug helps strengthen bones, but I'm now worried about potential issues. I'd also love to hear about any tips for managing the side effects and if there are any alternative treatments out there.

Unfortunately, the side effects sound really bad. I've heard that some doctors suggest trying different treatment options before going on Calcitonin, but I don't know if that is true. Take it with a grain of salt, but I've also heard that taking calcitonin with vitamin D and calcium supplements can help with the bone density.

I've been on Calcitonin for a while now and I'm glad I found this post. I thought I was the only one struggling with the nosebleeds. Do you use any nasal sprays or salves to help relieve the irritation?

I'm so sorry to hear about the irritation and nosebleeds. I've had a couple of bad experiences with the drug, but it has helped my bone density. I would suggest trying a saline nasal spray to help with the irritation.

There are alternatives to Calcitonin, like bisphosphonates. I wouldn't recommend stopping Calcitonin unless you've discussed your options with your doctor. I have to admit that I've been taking Calcitonin and have had no side effects, but I just read the side effects and I am starting to worry
