Has anyone else experienced severe side effects from Metronidazole 1% Topical Gel Pump for rosacea?
I've been using Metronidazole 1% Topical Gel Pump for a few weeks now to treat my rosacea, and while it seems to be helping with the redness and bumps, I've been experiencing some concerning side effects. I've read about the potential for allergic reactions and nervous system issues, but I want to know if anyone else has gone through similar experiences. Did the side effects subside over time, or did you have to stop using the medication? Any insights or similar stories would be greatly appreciated.

I had hives and itching so bad, I had to stop using it after a week. My dermatologist switched me to a different antibiotic gel, and it works just as well without the side effects.
What weirding me out most was the burning sensation when I first applied it. My doctor said it was normal but that was a tough couple of weeks.
I had some weird tingling sensations and dizziness when I first started using it. It was really scary, but my doctor said it was a rare side effect that sometimes happens. I stopped using and waited for a week before trying it again. Now it seems fine, but I still keep an eye out for those symptoms.
I've been using it for a couple of months and haven't had any issues. Just make sure to apply a very thin layer and give it time to absorb. Also, use a gentle moisturizer.
I had no issues but I also switched to a different prescription after trying multiple topical antibiotics and small doses every other day worked for me.
Dry skin is a common issue, so make sure to use a good moisturizer. I'd recommend something oil-based like Cetaphil to lock in moisture.
Seriously, I had no idea this stuff could cause seizures. I'm glad I read the side effects list carefully and stopped using it as soon as I felt dizzy. Best to be safe!
