I've been using Betasept 4% Liquid for handwashing in my healthcare job. I've heard it can cause skin irritation. I actually got some redness and itching after my first use. Should I be concerned, or is this a normal reaction? I'm wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience, or if there are any tips for avoiding this side effect. I like to prevent infections but don't want to hurt my skin in the process.

Betasept is definitely strong. I've had coworkers who switched to a different antiseptic because of skin issues. Might be worth considering if the irritation gets bad.

I've been using Betasept for years and never had an issue. Maybe you're more sensitive to it? Have you tried diluting it a bit?

Just make sure you're not using it too often. I had a colleague who had the same problem and it turned out they were using it way too frequently. Be careful with that.

I had a similar experience. My skin got really dry and irritated. I switched to an alcohol-based hand sanitizer for a while, but it doesn't work as well for killing germs. I'm back on Betasept but use gloves more often to protect my skin.
