Has anyone else had severe side effects from Promethazine DM Syrup?
I was prescribed Promethazine DM Syrup for a persistent cough and allergies. I've taken it for a few days now, and while it does help with the cough, I've been experiencing some alarming side effects. I've read about some of the potential side effects, but I'm wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences.
I've been feeling extremely dizzy and sleepy, which is to be expected, but I've also been having trouble controlling my body movements and feelings really nervous and excitable. I've also noticed some changes in my eyesight, which is really concerning.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Should I be worried about these symptoms, or are they just minor issues that will go away? I've tried contacting my doctor, but I haven't heard back yet. In the meantime, I wanted to see if anyone on here has dealt with similar problems.

I had the same problem you're describing. I tried different dosages, but they all gave me the same side effects. I couldn't take it anymore and I had to switch to something else. I felt so much better with a different medication. I'd definitely recommend asking your doctor about other options.
I had some weird side effects with it too, but my doctor said it was normal and to just ride it out. Maybe yours will say the same? Or maybe you can get something different. Just depends on your doctor, I guess.
I had a similar experience with Promethazine DM. The dizziness and sleepiness were terrible, and I had some pretty bad hallucinations. I had to stop taking it and talk to my doctor about alternatives.

I can't believe they'd prescribe something with those kinds of side effects. My mom had something similar and it caused some real issues. I would definitely call the doctor and let them know.
I've taken it a few times and never had any issues. It made me pretty sleepy, but that was it. You might want to talk to your doctor about adjusting the dosage or switching medications though, since those side effects sound pretty bad.
I didn't have any trouble with it, but I didn't take it for very long. I have a pretty high tolerance for medications, though. I think it's definitely worth talking to your doctor about it, though. Those side effects sound scary.
I took this for a few days and had no problems. Then again, I've taken a lot of allergy meds and maybe this is mild compared to others. But seriously, call your doctor ASAP, these are not normal side effects.
I had the same problem with the dizzy spells and nervousness. I stopped taking it and the symptoms went away. I had no idea that this medication could cause those issues! Thanks for sharing your experience, hopefully, someone chimes in with a solution.
