I've been on Meticorten for a few months now to manage my rheumatoid arthritis, and I'm really struggling with the idea of coming off it. The doctor has said it's time to start weaning, but I am terrified. Does anyone have any tips? Has anyone experienced some of the really scary side effects I've read about? I've been getting MORE joint pain and I'm not sure if it's related to the medication or just my condition worsening. I'm just really anxious and want to hear about other people's experiences.

Can someone please explain how to wean off Meticorten? I have no idea how it works. I hope people aren't just making it up

I had to stop taking Meticorten because of the weight gain. I felt like a beached whale. But now I'm taking another medication that seems to be working better. You might want to look into alternatives if you can't handle the side effects.

I have an autoimmune issue and I've been on this for years. The symptoms are horrible, but if the alternative is worse, then what can you do? I'm sure it's different for everyone, but for me, it’s a necessary evil.

Have you tried taking it in the morning? That way you can sleep through the insomnia that happens to a lot of people. I was a zombie for a while, but now I'm back to normal. Good luck!

I've seen some really scary side effects from prednisone. My neighbor used to get these freaky hallucinations. I'm glad I've never had to deal with that. I wish you the best of luck.

You're not alone! I was on Meticorten for a year and the weaning process was brutal. It took forever, and I had a lot of mood swings and fatigue. But it's worth it in the long run. Keep in touch with your doctor and be gentle with yourself.

I used to take prednisone for my asthma. With a prescription allergy or infection on top of that and i had a 48 hours of truly singing the death song! Yikes. It's all about how it interacts with your body.
