I've been using Lidocaine 5% Top/oral Oint 50gm for a while now to manage some chronic pain issues, and while it's been helpful, I've also experienced some troubling side effects. I just want to make sure I'm not alone in this. The serious side effects seem a bit concerning and I want to understand the risks better. Has anyone else dealt with any of the side effects listed? What's your experience with the medicine?

Serious side effects are wild... is it worth the risk? I got a serious case of the shakes last time. Also, doc said I could report to the FDA if I really need to.

I had to stop using it because of the severe numbness and tingling. It was too much for me to handle. I just couldn't deal with those side effects anymore. I definitely recommend talking to your doctor before trying it, just to be safe.

For those who have had positive experience, what do you suggest for long term use? It's been recommended for pain but the serious side effects seem alarming.

My brother had to stop using Lidocaine 5% because of the signs of skin infection at the application site. He had oozing, swelling, and it was really painful. He had to go to the ER and everything. Doc said he got really unlucky.

Yeah, be careful with the dosage. I had a friend who overdid it and ended up with some really bad side effects. It's not something to mess around with. An allergic reaction would be the worst. My doctor told me to apply a small amount to a patch of skin first to see if I had any adverse reactions.

Dealing with chronic pain is tough. But Lidocaine 5% can be a real lifesaver. Just keep an eye out for any of those rare but serious side effects. I had some mild irritation at the site of application, but it went away after a few days.
