I was recently prescribed Talwin NX Tablets for moderate to severe pain and I'm curious to hear from others who have taken this medication. It contains pentazocine and naloxone, which is interesting because naloxone is typically used to reverse opioid overdoses. I'm wondering how effective it is for pain relief and if anyone has experienced any of the serious side effects listed, such as allergic reactions or serotonin syndrome. I'm also curious about how well it compares to other opioid pain relievers.

I switched from Vicodin to Talwin NX and the change was night and day. The Vicodin made me nauseous all the time, but Talwin NX hasn't caused that issue. But make sure you're aware of the side effects, especially the serious ones.

Be careful with this stuff. I had a friend who got addicted to it and ended up in rehab. The naloxone doesn't stop people from getting hooked.

I've taken Talwin NX for a few months now and it's been a lifesaver for my back pain. I haven't experienced any serious side effects, but I do get pretty drowsy sometimes. Definitely talk to your doctor about it though.

Why do they add naloxone to this medication? I thought naloxone is used to save people from overdosing on opioids.

I've been on opioids before, and the side effects are always scary. I'm glad I've never taken anything stronger. The worst side effect I ever had on them was constipation, but I guess it's better than hallucinations.

Talwin NX was prescribed to me after surgery, and it worked well for the pain, but I had some really weird side effects. I experienced hallucinations and extreme fatigue. I had to switch to something else because it was too intense. Be prepared for some unexpected issues.
