Has anyone else used Peridex 0.12% Oral Rinse for gingivitis with good results?
I've been struggling with gingivitis for a while now, and my dentist recommended Peridex 0.12% Oral Rinse. I've heard it can be effective, but also that the side effects can be pretty unpleasant. Has anyone here used it and had good results? What were your experiences with it and what kind of side effects did you encounter? I'm really hoping this is going to help, but I'm a bit nervous about the potential side effects, like the possibility of permanent change in taste or staining on my teeth. What are your thoughts?

A lot of people stress about the taste and staining, but I kind of like it. It sounds gross, but it has a minty kind of taste. I've been using it for a while, and I'm not sure if I have any staining. I don't want to stop using it and have another bout of gum pain, but I don't want my teeth to decay.
If you don't want to deal with the staining, you can also get a prescription for the same medication in a lower concentration. You will have to take some time to see if it works for you. I've heard of others switching between products, so that might be an option.
Does anyone else's Peridex taste like ass? How does a product that tastes so bad work so well? It's a miracle and a curse.
Be careful, I had a bad reaction to this stuff. My gums started swelling up really bad, and I had this weird tingling sensation. I had to stop using it right away. Upvotes: 18
