I recently started using Bacitracin Zinc Topical Ointment to treat a small cut on my hand. I've heard it's great for preventing infections, but I'm a bit worried about the potential side effects. Has anyone else used this ointment and experienced any issues? Specifically, I'm curious about the rare but severe side effects like allergic reactions. Are these really as rare as they say, or is it something to be really cautious about? I want to make sure I'm using this correctly and safely. Any tips or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated!

I had a weird rash once when I used it on a deeper cut. Stopped using it and it cleared up. Not sure if it was the ointment but I'll stick to Neosporin from now on.

I work in a pharmacy and I can tell you that allergic reactions are rare but they do happen. If you notice any swelling or trouble breathing, seek medical attention immediately. It's always better to be safe!

I used this and Neosporin on my kid and they seem to work great. But have never had any rash or allergic reaction.

I had no idea there were so many side effects. I've been using this stuff for years. I guess I've been lucky.

I've always wondered if these topical antibiotics can cause more harm than good in the long run... Do they contribute to antibiotic resistance?

I just used it yesterday on a small scrape. I'm not getting any rash, so maybe I'm safe. Does it take a while for reactions to show up?

I love this stuff! I just got a small burn from a stove accident and it cleared up in a day with no infection. I think the key is to apply it immediately after cleaning the wound.

I think the key is to use it sparingly and only on minor wounds. Overuse of any antibiotic can lead to resistance, so it's important to be cautious. Always good to clean the area thoroughly before applying and wash your hands after — but you all know this, right?

I had a bad reaction to it a couple of years ago. I broke out in hives and had to rush to the ER. It was scary, but thankfully, I recovered quickly. Definitely worth keeping an eye out for any of those serious side effects.
