I've been taking Allergy Relf (loratadine) 10mg Tabs for a few weeks now, and while it seems to be helping with my allergy symptoms, I've been feeling extremely tired. The package insert says it's non-drowsy for most people, but I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this side effect. I'm worried because the symptoms match some of the severe side effects listed, like feeling extremely tired or weak. Should I be concerned, or is this just a normal side effect for some people? I've been looking for other antihistamines that might not have this issue. I just want to be able to get through the day without feeling like I need a nap every hour.

I've taken loratadine for years and never felt tired. Maybe switch to a different antihistamine?

I've experienced extreme fatigue with loratadine too. I switched to cetirizine, which is a different type of antihistamine, and it's been much better for me. Definitely worth talking to your doctor about switching medications, I don't honestly know if it's common.

I woke up feeling awful having taken those pills the night before. I believe I have a sensitive stomach. I felt like I had a hangover. Since then I've avoided them like the plague. I've even heard that this can happen with any over the counter medicine.

I disagree, I actually found it to be more useful than cetirizine. I switched back and forth and cetirizine had a greater sedative effect on me.

I use loratadine regularly and never get sleepy. But I use a different medication for my nasal congestion.

Feeling tired could be due to dehydration. Make sure you're drinking plenty of water!

Been on loratadine for a few years, haven't had an issue. Just don't take it close to bedtime.
