I had a friend who had severe allergic reaction to Amikacin. Swelling, hives, the works. They had to go to the ER. Scary stuff!
Did your doctor mention the risk of Clostridioides difficile (C. diff)-associated diarrhea? That's a nasty one. Make sure to stay hydrated and watch out for those symptoms.
I had Amikacin and experienced some hearing changes. Ringing in the ears, mostly. It went away after the treatment though.
I wonder if the side effects are worse if you have pre-existing conditions? I had kidney stones before and was worried about how Amikacin would affect me.
