I recently started taking Amlo/val/hctz 10/160/12.5mg tablets to manage my high blood pressure. The combination of amlodipine, valsartan, and hydrochlorothiazide seems to be effective, but I'm a bit worried about the potential side effects. The list is quite long, and some of them are quite serious. Has anyone here had any bad experiences with this medication? I'm particularly concerned about the risk of skin cancer and eye problems. Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Wow, that's a serious mix of drugs. I know someone who ended up with a rash and had to switch to another med. Doctors always say the benefits outweigh the risks, but still...

Fuck man. This med has saved my life but I can't believe the muscle spasms. I wake up in the middle of the night with them. It's like being electrocuted, twice a month or so.

I had some dizzy spells when I first started, but they went away after a couple of weeks. It's important to stay hydrated and monitor your electrolytes, especially with the diuretic in there. Also, make sure to protect yourself from the sun since hydrochlorothiazide can increase the risk of skin cancer. Regular skin checks are a must. Trust me, better safe than sorry. I've had a mole change color before, and it turned out to be nothing, but it was still scary. I've definitely noticed that I'm less thirsty since taking it. Make sure to drink lots of water, or you'll feel it in your head! Also, the headaches can be pretty bad if you don't stay hydrated.

I'm not a big fan of this medication in general. I think the side effects are way underrated. It's supposed to be a blood pressure medication but it's given me more problems than anything.

Eye pain within the first few weeks is nothing to joke about. I ignored it, and ended up with a pretty nasty infection. If you experience any changes in vision or eye pain, get to a doctor ASAP.

I switched to this combo because my blood pressure was rocketing and had to make sure I was still exercising which can be a bitch. Nothing else was working. But I hate how tired it makes me feel sometimes! It's like a constant low energy level. But it could be worse, right?

I've been on this med for a while now, and honestly, the occasional headache is nothing compared to the alternative. Just keep an eye out for any serious symptoms.
