I was prescribed Augmentin 250mg/5ml Susp 75ml for an ear infection, but I'm starting to worry about the side effects. The leaflet mentions some really scary things like allergic reactions and liver problems. Has anyone else had issues with this medication? I'm on day 3 and feeling okay so far, but I'm not sure what to expect. Any advice or shared experiences would be great!

My doctor said that some people just react differently to medications. They said that the stuff they are allergic to are not always the same as the stuff you would expect. I hope it goes well though. I would be careful, but have hope for the best. I think the worst thing is the waiting, right?.

My kid had a bad reaction to Augmentin too. It was scary. We had to stop the medication and switch to something else. I think it was the amoxicillin? I remember it didn't look good. Definitely keep a close eye on things, especially since it's a kid. Hope it goes well though. I remember it being a sappy syrup, but I guess that's just how kids remember medicine.

I had some pretty bad diarrhea when I took Augmentin. It was miserable. Did you get a stomach bug as well and that's why you were prescribed Augmentin or is it for something else? I would be more worried if the diarrhea was out of the ordinary because of the antibiotic rather than just as a side effect.

Augmentin saved my life once. I had a severe infection and it knocked it out. Side effects were rough, but it was worth it. Just keep monitoring and hope for the best. It's not the end of the world if the side effects are bad. I don't recommend getting a severe infection, but I'd much rather go through that than the alternatives.

I took Augmentin a few times and never had any issues. But I've heard stories. Just keep an eye out for any unusual symptoms. If something doesn't feel right, trust your instincts and call your doctor. Sounds like you're describing a kid, so you definitely want to be careful and diligent. Make sure to let the doctor know sooner rather than later if something jumps out at you.

I had a pretty bad reaction to Augmentin a few years ago. I broke out in hives and had trouble breathing. I ended up in the ER, and they told me I was lucky it wasn't worse. I'd be cautious if I were you. How old is the child that is taking it? I found that Augmentin seemed to have a worse effect on younger kids.

Side effects suck, but Augmentin is a strong antibiotic. I had a bad infection a while back and Augmentin cleared it right up. Just keep monitoring and if you notice anything serious, hit up the ER. They can help you more than your normal doctor at that point. If you notice anything that the list says, don't mess around. I don't say this to freak you out, but it's good to be on your toes.
