Has anyone experienced severe side effects from Cyclogyl 2% Ophthalmic Solution?
I was recently prescribed Cyclogyl 2% Ophthalmic Solution for an eye exam, and I'm a bit worried about the potential side effects. The medication is supposed to help my eye doctor examine the back of my eye, but the list of possible side effects, including allergic reactions, changes in vision, and even seizures, is quite alarming. Has anyone else used this eye drop and experienced any of these severe side effects? I'm particularly concerned because I have a history of allergies. Did your doctor provide any specific advice or precautions to mitigate these risks? What about side effects in infants. Anyone with experience with this?

I had a friend who had a really bad reaction to this. He ended up with blurred vision and trouble speaking. It was terrifying, and he had to go to the ER. Definitely something to be cautious about. I'd make sure to stay in close contact with your doctor
I’ve had Cyclogyl a few times, and while I didn’t have any serious side effects, I did have a bit of a weird taste in my mouth afterwards. It was a bit alarming, but I guess it’s better than the alternatives.
The burning and irritation are pretty common, but they usually go away quickly. Just keep some lubricating eye drops on hand just in case.
I’m an optometrist, and while the side effects can be scary, they are rare. Just make sure to follow the instructions carefully and if you notice anything weird, contact your doctor immediately. Better safe than sorry.
