I've just started taking E.E.S. 400mg Tablets to treat a skin infection. The prescription is for two weeks. I've had a minor stomach pain, but it may be anxiety. I've heard about the rare but severe side effects like the Stevens-Johnson syndrome, but I don't know much about them. I'd appreciate it if anyone who has taken this could share their experiences, both positive and negative. Also, what should I do if I experience severe dizziness or changes in my heartbeat? Should I stop taking the medication immediately?

I had to take this for a sexually transmitted infection a while back. I experienced some hearing changes—it was pretty scary. I had to stop taking it, and my doctor switched me to another antibiotic. It turned out it wasn’t permanent; my hearing returned to normal after a few weeks, but it was pretty frightening at the time.

I know they say to finish the full course of antibiotics but if you have a severe reaction, just stop and go to the emergency room. Have you looked up the severe reactions? The rash pictures alone made me feel sick and I don’t even have a skin infection.

Be really careful with this one. My friend ended up in the hospital with a severe skin reaction. They had to stop the medication right away. If you notice any red, swollen, or peeling skin, don’t wait, get to a doctor immediately.

You should be aware that this is an old school antibiotic, and bacteria have had time to develop resistance. If you are not feeling better after a few days or the skin malady is worsening, please do not hesitate to contact your doctor.

I took E.E.S. for a lung infection a few years back. I didn't experience any severe side effects, but I did have some mild stomach upset and diarrhea. It went away after a few days. Just make sure to take it with food and stay hydrated.

Erythromycin can interact with a lot of other medications, so make sure your doctor knows everything you're taking. A friend of mine had a bad reaction because they didn't mention they were on a heart medication.
