I've been prescribed Gentamicin 0.3% Ophth Soln 5ml for a bacterial eye infection. I've started using it, but I'm a bit nervous about the potential side effects, especially the urgent ones like changes in eyesight or allergic reactions. Has anyone else had to deal with these side effects? How did you manage them? I'm also curious if anyone has experienced any other side effects not listed, and if so, what were they? I want to be prepared but also not overreact to normal symptoms. Thanks in advance!

I had a minor burning sensation when I first used it, but it went away after a few days. No big deal for me but I know that for some people it might be worse.

I had a terrible allergic reaction to Gentamicin. My eyes became so swollen that I could barely see. It was scary, and I had to go to the ER. They switched me to a different antibiotic, and I was fine after that. I’m very sensitive to antibiotics and that was true with this one.

My mom had a really bad reaction to this stuff. She had a lot of swelling around her eyes there was some reaction on her forehead and carried on for a few days after she stopped using the eye drops. It was scary, but she’s fine now.

I had a lot of eye pain and irritation when I started using Gentamicin. It was really uncomfortable, but my doctor said it was normal. I had to stick with it because it was working great.

I didn’t have any side effects but I did have a friend whose eyes got super red and itchy. It was really tough to see if you had the exact same reaction.

This medication is a lifesaver, but seriously, if you experience any changes in eyesight or sudden pain, you must get medical help. I had a friend who had this get worse and experience pain and told me it felt like the worst migraine he had ever felt.

I've never had any serious issues with Gentamicin, but I did notice some burning when I first started using it. My doctor said that was normal, but if it gets worse or doesn’t go away you should get help

I was surprised by how much it stung when I first put it in, but it went away quickly. I didn’t have to worry about it much after that.

I had a mild allergic reaction to this stuff. My eyes got really itchy and red, and I felt like they were on fire and absolutely no itch relief worked. A trip to the doctor and I was prescribed an antihistamine and the eye drops were switched.
