I recently started taking Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5mg capsules for high blood pressure, and I'm curious if anyone else has had any severe side effects. The medication is a diuretic that helps my body get rid of extra salt and water, which should lower my blood pressure and reduce swelling (edema). However, the list of potential side effects is quite extensive, ranging from allergic reactions to kidney problems and even skin cancer. I've experienced some mild dizziness and fatigue, but I'm mostly concerned about the serious side effects. Has anyone else had similar issues or experienced anything more severe? I'd love to hear your stories and any advice you might have.

I take this for my edema, and it works wonders on that front. But I've also started having issues with my vision which requires monitoring. Luckily, my doctor warned me about the possibility and have regular checkups now.

Since I'm on this, I've started wearing sunscreen all the time and checking my skin for any changes. It's a small price to pay if it means avoiding skin cancer. Be safe, folks!

I had a really bad reaction to this drug. I started experiencing severe abdominal pain and nausea, which turned out to be pancreatitis. I had to go to the ER, and it was a terrifying experience. I've since switched to a different medication and feel much better. Be really careful and pay attention to any unusual symptoms.

I think everyone's experience is different, but it's always good to be cautious. Make sure you stay hydrated and talk to your doctor about any concerns you have. They can help monitor your symptoms and adjust your dosage if needed.

My brother had to stop taking this because of severe skin reactions. It started with a rash, and then his skin got really irritated and blistered. It was bad. He switched to something else and has been fine since.

I've been on this medication for a few months now, and the only side effect I've noticed is some occasional dizziness. It's definitely manageable, but I keep a close eye on my electrolyte levels just in case.
