I've been prescribed Iopidine 1% eye drops to lower the pressure in my eye before and after surgery, as it works by reducing the amount of fluid your eye makes. I've read about some severe side effects, and I'm feeling a bit anxious. Has anyone else used this and had any issues? I'm particularly worried about the allergic reactions and changes in eyesight. Has anyone had good experiences with it? Or any horror stories?

My mom had a bad reaction. A few hours in, her eyelids started swelling, and she went to the emergency room. Now she's fine, but it was scary. I'd say watch for any changes and call your doctor immediately.

My eye doctor seemed to think things would be fine. He told me to get in touch if I experienced issues with my eyesight or anything else. So far, I had excessive tearing, but it went away. But it's worth talking to your doctor so you can be confident.

I was terrified of the eye drops on my first surgery. But the experience was not as bad as I thought. Everything was better than doing nothing. You can do it! Just be careful out there.

What was the surgery for? I used it for a different procedure. Maybe that makes a difference. Even if my surgery is different, I think you should stick to what the doctor says. Personally, I think the Iopidine is worth it.

Take your time and read the instructions carefully. If you're anxious, talk to your doctor. They can help you feel more comfortable with the process. Side effects suck, but Iopidine does its job. I'd rather deal with dry mouth/dry eyes than increased eye pressure.

I didn't have any issues, but on my first time, I dropped too much. The world went blurry, and it was terrifying but it resolved. Just be careful with the drops.

I used Iopidine before and after my cataract surgery, it's not bad. I got a bit of blurred vision, but it went away after a few days. My doctor said I experienced a side effect, and it was rare. Try not to worry too much, Iopidine really helped with the pressure.

Severe eye irritation is one of the side effects. If you get this, don't wait. Head to the ER. You can also report the side effects to the FDA. They take it seriously. web link is on the docs, fda.gov

My sister's friend had to get to the hospital because of hives. Scary stuff. She had a reaction, so they ran tests and treated her. She was okay eventually. And she swore off eye drops. So maybe I'll be lucky and have no problems.
