I've recently been prescribed Quinapril/hctz 20-12.5mg Tablets to manage my high blood pressure. I've noticed a persistent cough, and I'm worried if it's a side effect of the medication. I realize that drug side effects can be rare, but I'm curious if anyone else has had issues. Has anyone else experienced any side effects from this medication? I'd like to discuss and know if it has been consistent.

My mom was on this and she had some really bad dizziness. It was so bad she had to stop taking it. She ended up switching to a different med that doesn't have that issue. Be sure to get any other symptoms checked out.

I’m a nurse and I’ve seen a few patients with this prescription. I’ve seen hives, muscle weakness, and dizziness a lot.

I had a persistent cough too. Talked to my doctor and he said it's a known side effect of Quinapril. He suggested trying a different med if it's too bothersome. Just be cautious

I got a rash and itching. I was sweating, drowsy, and having chills. It was so bad I had to go to the hospital. They took me off the meds and I'm over it. If you see the signs of an allergic reaction rush to the ER!

I just started taking this a couple of weeks ago. I am feeling a bit tired and I am having some trouble sleeping, but nothing else yet. I will see how it goes.

I wasn't aware of the skin cancer risk but that's a good point. Make sure you're slapping on the sunscreen folks. Don't let this scare you though, it's just something to be mindful of.

I’m switching to a different medication. I took this for six months and it worked well. But I’ve had no side effects until now. I’m a bit worried now. I’m getting hot and cold sweats, and I’m feeling a bit dizzy. Has anyone else felt like this?

Dizziness and headaches are common but manageable. I noticed them for the first couple of weeks but they went away after that. Make sure you're staying hydrated and avoiding alcohol, it makes a difference.
