I've been prescribed Valacyclovir 1gm Tablets to treat shingles and was hoping to hear from others who have taken this medication. The possible side effects list is quite extensive and a bit alarming. Has anyone experienced severe side effects like kidney issues or seizures, or are the serious side effects truly rare? I'd also love to hear about any positive experiences or advice on managing the more common side effects. What have others found to be most helpful? Thank you for sharing your experiences!

I had kidney issues when I was on Valacyclovir. It was terrifying, so please keep an eye on your urine output and any pain in your lower back. If you experience either of those symptoms, seek medical attention immediately

Valacyclovir saved me from a miserable shingles outbreak. Just a bit of a headache and some diarrhea, but overall, it was worth it. Stay strong!

I had a really bad reaction to Valacyclovir. I started having hallucinations and had to go to the ER. Scary stuff. Please be careful and watch out for any weird symptoms.

How long have you been on Valacyclovir? I've been taking it for a week and my symptoms have decreased significantly. Just hoping the side effects don't kick in.

I've heard that some people take Lysine supplements to help with outbreaks. Has anyone tried that in conjunction with Valacyclovir?

I've been on Valacyclovir for years for cold sores. Never had any serious side effects, just occasional stomach upset. Make sure to stay hydrated, it helps a lot.

I had terrible menstrual cramps while on this med. It was awful. But otherwise, no big issues.

Why are there so many scary side effects listed? I’m nervous to start this medication. Has anyone talked to their doctor about these serious side effects and if they’re likely to occur?
