I'm scheduled to have a minor procedure next week and my doctor prescribed Xylocaine 0.5% Inj, 50ml for local anesthesia. The potential side effects list is quite long, and it's got me worried. Are these side effects common? Should I talk to my doctor about them? I'm worried about the risk of allergic reactions, metabolic acidosis, and especially methemoglobinemia. I've never had an adverse reaction to anesthesia before, but with all the horror stories out there, I can't help but be anxious.

I can relate to your anxiety, friend. Some side effects I've come across were dizziness, fainting, and drowsiness. These seem more common than some of the other side effects listed, but overall, I think you'll be fine. Just be careful and monitor yourself.

Always good to be worried. But it seems these side effects are pretty rare. Just monitor your body for any symptoms that seem off. If you notice any symptoms that could be especially dangerous, such as irregular heartbeat, seizures, or severe dizziness, make sure you seek medical attention immediately

Don't worry. These side effects are pretty rare. I've had this medication a few times and never experienced any issues. I think it's important to remember that everyone's body responds differently to medications.

My wife had severe allergic reaction and ended up in the emergency room. Maybe you should take someone with you to your procedure and check out the place where the procedure will be done in advance

I’ll never forget the one time I had a bad reaction to an anesthetic. I experienced severe headache, shortness of breath, and restlessness. It definitely was not fun. Make sure you communicate your concerns with your doctor, and they can address any questions or worries you have.

You might want to read the package insert. It provides valuable information about the drug and its potential side effects. I had this medication for a procedure a few years ago and didn't experience any side effects.

I don't think lidocaine is the best choice if you're prone to anaphylactic reactions. The doctor might be able to prescribe a different type of local anesthesia that will minimize your risk.
