I've been prescribed Leucovorin Calcium 350mg Inj as part of my cancer treatment regimen. It's supposed to protect my healthy cells from the harmful effects of methotrexate and enhance the effectiveness of fluorouracil. I've heard it can also treat certain types of anemia, but I'm more concerned about the potential side effects. The package insert lists some pretty scary possibilities, like seizures and severe allergic reactions. I'm hoping to hear from others who have taken this medication. Have any of you experienced these urgent side effects, or do they rarely happen? How did you cope if you did? Also, any tips on dealing with the less severe side effects would be appreciated. I want to make sure I'm prepared for whatever comes my way.

I've been on this for a month now. My doctor just told me I needed it because I have an anemia they think is from radiation. I also feel sooo much better than I used to. Make sure to talk to your doctor often and you should be good.

I wish I had known about the serious side effects before I started taking this medication. I had to go to the ER for severe allergic reactions. It was terrifying. Listen to your body and call your doctor at the first sign of trouble.

I had Leucovorin as part of my chemo regimen. It was part of the treatment to take it with Methotrexate. I didn't notice anything unusual. The nurses were amazing and knew how to help me feel better when I was getting sick from other medicines. Just stay in close contact with your care team and you should be good.

I had a really bad reaction to Leucovorin. Started with hives and itching, then my throat began to close up. Scariest moment of my life. My doctors switched me to a different medication. Be careful, and make sure you have your EpiPen with you if you have a history of allergies.

Leucovorin is a lifesaver in my experience. It definitely helped the treatment work better, and even though I had some nausea, it was manageable. My oncologist recommended taking anti-nausea meds before the treatment, and it worked well.

I’m surprised to see so many people mentioning serious side effects. I was told this was generally well-tolerated. Is it possible these experiences are rare, or has it changed?

Stay hydrated and listen to your body. I found that drinking plenty of water helped minimize the side effects. Plus, talk to your doctor about any concerns you have. They're there to help!

I was on this as well and I didn't have any major issues but it did make me sleepy. Just be aware of that and maybe avoid driving or doing anything dangerous.

I've been on Leucovorin for a while and haven't had any major issues. Just some mild dizziness that went away after a few days, but I've heard about the seizures and allergic reactions. If you notice anything unusual, get to the ER fast! Wishing you all the best!
