I was prescribed Atropine Sulf 1% Oph Soln 2ml eye drops to help with an eye inflammation and for my upcoming eye exam. The doctor mentioned that it would make my pupils larger and relax the focusing muscle inside my eye. I knew there were some side effects, like the usual dry mouth, skin, or eye sensations. However, I wasn't entirely sure about the more serious, urgent side effects. I've read about the signs of an allergic reaction, high blood pressure, and other symptoms that sound quite scary. Has anyone else used this medication? How did it go for you? I'm just trying to see if I'm overreacting to this list of possible side effects or if I should be genuinely concerned.

I've used Atropine a few times before eye exams. The biggest issue I had was the blurred vision and sensitivity to light. It was annoying, but not dangerous. Also, I experienced a severe headache and a bit of dizziness, but it went away after a couple of hours. I didn't have any of the urgent side effects, but those symptoms were a concern for me, and I would be talking to the doctor about them.

I guess it's just a matter of listening to your body and knowing when to stop use.

I've never had any issues with Atropine, but I've read about the potential side effects and avoid medications like it. My friend had a bad experience with it, and they ended up in the hospital with an allergic reaction. It really sucks that some people have to go through that. I think it is a good idea to get emergency treatment right away if you notice the symptoms listed in the warning.

I had a friend who used Atropine. She had an allergic reaction and ended up in the hospital. She had trouble breathing, and her face and throat swelled up. Scary stuff, so definitely be cautious.

Hard to feel safe about it when we hear stories like that!

Just want to add that if you do experience any of the urgent side effects, don't hesitate to go to the ER. Better safe than sorry, right?
