I'm scheduled for an MRI soon for the first time and my doctor said the Gadoteridol, also called Prohance 279.3mg/ml Inj, 15ml, will be administered as a contrast agent. I'm a bit nervous because I've read that it can cause severe side effects in rare cases. I know the benefits of the contrast agent outweigh the risks, but I can't shake off the anxiety. I've asked my doctor about it and he reassured me that these side effects are rare, but I can't help but worry. Has anyone here had an MRI with this drug and experienced any of the urgent side effects mentioned? I would really appreciate any insights or anecdotes. Thanks!

I've had an MRI with Prohance. The worst part was staying still for the whole process. Not the medicine.

I did not have an MRI with Prohance, but I had a friend's mother that had a severe reaction to a contrast dye similar to this. She changed to a different MRI scan that did not use contrast dye. It's possible to request a non-contrast scan from a radiologist, but it may not provide as accurate results.

I've had a few MRIs with this dye and never had issues. The worst part for me was the loud noises the machine made. I brought earplugs next time and it was so much better. Hope your MRI goes smoothly!

I had an MRI with Prohance several years ago - didn't experience anything serious. I had a slight headache afterwards, but it went away within a few hours. I think it's important to stay calm and follow the doctor's instructions. They know what they're doing.

I had a bad reaction to Prohance. I developed hives and had trouble breathing. It was terrifying, but the medical team acted quickly and I recovered. I can't imagine what would have happened if they hadn't been there. Please be careful.

I've never had an MRI but my uncle had one and had what the doctors said was a severe reaction to Prohance. He had a rash and itchy skin for a week. But he got over it. It sounds like you have to expect some side effects but they're usually temporary.

I think the worst part about an MRI is lying still for so long. I had one once and it was so incredibly boring. I can't imagine also being sick, haha.
