I was prescribed Demerol for post-surgery pain management and I'm a bit nervous about the side effects. The possible side effects listed are extensive and scary. I'm wondering if anyone has any real-world experiences or insights to share. How severe were the side effects? Did you know about serotonin syndrome and adrenal gland problems? Has anyone experienced any of these? I've also heard that long term use can cause issues with sex hormone levels, but the doctor only mentioned this in passing. I would like some more information on this.

Demerol has saved me several times, but my friend had a bad experience with it. She had to deal with a lot of confusion and even some hallucinations. Not for everyone to be sure.

Demerol is one of those drugs that can cause serotonin syndrome if you’re taking other meds. It’s terrifying to think about, but it’s good to know what to look out for.

My mom was on Demerol after a bad fall. She had some really bad hallucinations and mood swings. It was scary to see, but the doctors said it was a side effect.

I'm more worried about the long-term effects. I’ve heard it can mess with your hormones. That’s a big deal for someone like me who has trouble with fertility.

I worked in a hospital and saw a lot of people on Demerol. It’s powerful stuff, but you have to watch out for respiratory depression. The low blood sugar symptoms are also scary.

I had Demerol after a surgery and it was great for the pain, but it really messed with my head. I felt super confused and shaky. I don't know if it was just the pain or the meds, but it was not fun. I wish the doctor had warned me more about these potential side effects. I’m glad I didn’t have to deal with the really scary stuff, though.

I had to take Demerol for a few days, and it made me feel super dizzy and weak. I couldn’t even get out of bed without feeling like I was going to pass out. But pain was way better.

I had some issues with constipation and upset stomach, but nothing too serious. The dizziness was the worst part for me. I just took it easy and tried to rest as much as possible.

My friend who is a nurse said some people get really bad headaches and sweating. I guess it's from the way it affects your brain. Also, she said to be careful because people react differently, even if the dose is the same. Also, it said to be careful if you have trouble urinating.
