I've been dealing with severe muscle spasms due to a spinal cord injury and my doctor recommended trying Lioresal Int 0.05mg/1 Inj, 1ml, a form of intrathecal baclofen. I'm curious to hear from anyone who has experience with this treatment. How effective was it? What side effects did you experience? How did the implantation of the pump go? I'd love to hear both positive and negative experiences to help me make an informed decision. Is it worth the risk of side effects for the potential relief? Also, how does the pump management go, and can it be done at home or does it require frequent clinic visits? Any insights would be super helpful!

I was really afraid of the surgery, but it was worth it. The relief from muscle spasms has been so much better than oral meds

I've been on it for a year now, and it's been a game-changer. The muscle spasms are so much better, and I can finally sleep through the night. I had some dizziness and nausea in the beginning, but those faded after a few weeks. The pump implant wasn't bad at all — just a small incision.

Just had my pump implanted last month. I’m hoping for the best, but I’m a bit nervous about the side effects. Did anyone experience any surprises?

For those who had seizures or hallucinations, was the pump removed immediately or was there an attempt to adjust the dosage first?

The pump management is actually pretty easy. You have to go in for a refill every few months, but other than that, it's just keeping an eye on the battery and making sure the catheter is working properly. My doctor checked me frequently to avoid infections.

I had some really bad side effects from the baclofen pump. I experienced hallucinations and seizures, which was scary. I had to get the pump removed. It’s a serious decision and requires careful monitoring.

Does anyone know if the baclofen pump can cause weight gain? I’ve heard mixed things about it.

Be prepared for the adjustment period. It took me a few months to find the right dose, and I had some upsetting side effects like dizziness and weakness.

Baclofen is a fantastic drug, but intrathecal administration is a big step. Did your doctor explain the risks of complications from the pump or catheter?
