I'm considering Lupron Depot-Ped 45mg for my 7-year-old who is showing signs of Central Precocious Puberty (CPP). This medication is supposed to help stop the early development of puberty with 6 month shots. I'm worried about the side effects, especially the serious ones. Has anyone here gone through this with their child? I'd love to hear about your experiences, both good and bad. Also, any tips for managing side effects would be greatly appreciated!

I wish I had better news, but we actually switched to a different treatment because the side effects were just too much for my child to handle. We were lucky that the other treatment worked fine.

I've been through this with my daughter. Lupron Depot-Ped has been a game-changer. We did experience some side effects like hot flashes and irritability, but nothing too severe. Just make sure to monitor your child closely and stay in touch with the doctor.

My kid had a cyst rupture after the first round of Lupron. We rushed them to the hospital, and they tried to attribute it to the Lupron.

I think it's important to remember that every child is different, and what works for one might not work for another. In the end, we just have to hope for the best and do what we can, right?

My pediatric endocrinologist really pushed Lupron but once we started the injections my daughter had really bad allergic reactions.; her skin would swell up and she got rashes so bad it was hard to tell it was my daughter; we stopped using it and the doctor gave us a different hormone treatment. I would make sure to weigh the cons carefully and have a backup plan.

Why is there no mention of how difficult it is to give your child an injection every 6 months? That was the hard part for us.

Be prepared for mood swings and some behavioral changes. My son was on Lupron for about a year, and while it was effective, we had to deal with a lot of emotional ups and downs. It was tough, but worth it in the end.

Considering how serious the side effects can be, it's a good idea to have a medical professional nearby when you give the shot to your kid. I mean, just in case.
