I've been prescribed Meperidine 50mg/ml Inj, 1ml for severe pain management. I'm a bit nervous about the potential side effects, especially the urgent ones like allergic reactions and serotonin syndrome. Has anyone had experience with this medication? What should I expect in terms of side effects and long-term use?

I've had it prescribed a few times and honestly, it works wonders for pain. Just make sure to keep an eye on the side effects. If you start feeling weird, don't wait, get medical help. It's better to be safe than sorry.

This medication can definitely cause some issues with your vision. I noticed some changes in my vision after taking it for a few days. If you experience anything like that, get to a doctor right away.

Meperidine is a strong opioid, and like any other strong opioid, it can be addictive. Make sure to talk to your doctor about the duration of your prescription and how to taper off if needed. Also, be aware of the signs of adrenal gland problems; they can be life-threatening. I've seen patients experience extreme fatigue and fainting spells due to this.

I've taken Meperidine a few times after surgery, and while it did help with the pain, I experienced some pretty bad dizziness and nausea. Make sure to have someone drive you home if you're getting it as an outpatient.

Serotonin syndrome is no joke. I had a friend who mixed Meperidine with another SSRI and ended up in the hospital with a severe case. Make sure your doctor knows about all the medications you're taking.

Anyone know if this can affect fertility? I'm planning on starting a family soon, so I'm a bit worried about the long-term effects.

I had a friend who was on this for a while and he had some serious constipation issues. Make sure to stay hydrated and eat plenty of fiber. Also, consider asking your doctor about stool softeners.

I had a really bad time with this drug. I ended up in the ER with severe constipation and stomach pain. It was a nightmare. Be careful, folks.
