I have a dental procedure coming up and my dentist mentioned using Polocaine 1% Solution for local anesthesia. I'm a bit nervous about the side effects, especially the rare but serious ones like methemoglobinemia. Has anyone had experience with this medication? What was your experience like? Were there any side effects? I'd appreciate any insights or advice!

I've used it for several procedures and never had any issues. The worst I experienced was a metallic taste in my mouth, which went away quickly. Definitely better than the pain of the procedure!

I didn't have any problems. I did have some numbness in my mouth, but it was manageable and temporary. Definitely better than the pain of the procedure!

I had it for a wisdom tooth extraction. The dentist gave me some ibuprofen beforehand to manage the pain and the procedure went smoothly. No real side effects, just a bit of tingling in my mouth.

I had it for a root canal and it worked great. No side effects, just a numb mouth for a few hours.

It's interesting that you mention methemoglobinemia as a side effect. This is a rare condition where the oxygen in the blood decreases. Symptoms can be severe and require immediate medical attention. Thankfully it's very rare with Polocaine. I would still be cautious and keep an eye on how you're feeling after the procedure.

Dentists use this stuff all the time, so it's pretty common. Just make sure to stay calm during the procedure. The anxiety can make side effects worse.

I've had it before and had some breathing difficulties. It was pretty scary and my doctor had to stop the procedure. Not sure if I'll use it again. I had to spend the night in the hospital for observation.

I had a really bad experience with it during an epidural for back surgery. I ended up with long-lasting numbness and tingling. It was awful, so I hope you're not getting it for epidural use.

I had a bad reaction to it. I experienced severe dizziness and shortness of breath. Scary stuff. Make sure your dentist knows your medical history. Might be worth asking about alternatives just in case.

Just make sure to discuss all the side effects with your dentist and be prepared if something happens. It's always better to be safe!
