I've been struggling with severe dry mouth due to Sjögren's syndrome and my doctor prescribed Salagen 7.5mg tablets. This medication is used to stimulate saliva production, which is great in theory, but I'm a bit nervous about the possible side effects. I've read that some people experience severe reactions like allergic symptoms, blood pressure changes, and even abdominal pain. Has anyone else tried this medication? What were your experiences? Any tips for managing the side effects would be greatly appreciated! Also, should I be concerned about the long-term usage of this medication? What is your take on it?

I've been on Salagen for about six months now, and it's been a lifesaver. I had to deal with constant dryness before, and it was really affecting my quality of life. I did have a bit of stomach upset at first, but it went away after a couple of weeks. Definitely worth giving it a shot if you're struggling with dry mouth.

I've seen more sweating and frequent urination. The frequent urination was really annoying and I had to get up at least 5 times a night. I'm not sure if it was worth it. I switched back to a different drug because of it.

I feel like Salagen is a good short-term solution, but I'm not sure about long-term use. It's a bit pricey too, so keep an eye on your budget if you're on it for a while.

How long does it take to see results? I've been on it for a week and haven't noticed much difference yet.

I had a severe allergic reaction to Salagen. It was terrifying—swelling, difficulty breathing, the works. My doctor switched me to a different medication, and I'm doing much better now. If you experience any severe side effects, go to the ER immediately. Don't mess around with allergies.

I tried Salagen but had to stop because of the excessive sweating. It was really uncomfortable, and I just couldn't deal with it. I switched to a different medication and it works well for me. Don't be discouraged if you experience side effects, there are other options.

Does anyone know if there are any natural remedies that might help with dry mouth alongside Salagen? I'm trying to minimize medication if possible.

I've heard that chewing sugar-free gum or sucking on sugar-free hard candies can help stimulate saliva production. It might be worth a try alongside Salagen.

Dry mouth from Sjögren's is no joke. I've been on Salagen for a year and it's made a huge difference, even with the side effects. The dizziness and runny nose aren't great, but they're worth it for the relief from dry mouth.
