I'm scheduled for a medical procedure that requires local numbing, and my doctor mentioned using Sensorcaine-Mpf 0.5% Inj,10ml (Bupivacaine). I've never heard of this medication before and I'm a bit worried about the possible side effects. The doctor mentioned that it works by blocking nerve signals, but I'd like to hear from people who have actually used it. Have any of you had experience with this? What were your side effects like? Were they manageable, or did you experience any serious complications? Also, how long did the numbing effect last, and did it wear off gradually or abruptly? Any insights would be really helpful as I prepare for my procedure. Thanks in advance!

Just don’t freak out if you start feeling weird sensations. It’s normal, you’ll be fine.

I used Sensorcaine for an epidural during childbirth. It worked wonders, but I had some GI issues afterward. Feeling hot and cold, sweating a lot, and a bit nauseous. Nothing too bad, though. I think it's worth it for the relief during the procedure.

Just curious, how long did the numbness last for everyone?

JL421 has a good point. Communication with your medical team is key. If you feel anything out of the ordinary, don’t hesitate to let them know. They’re there to help!

Exactly what I was talking about! I'm glad you mentioned the blue lips thing.

I had a spinal block with Bupivacaine and it lasted for about 5 hours. The numbness wore off gradually, which was nice. No serious side effects, just a bit of tingling.

I've had Bupivacaine for a nerve block before. It was a great experience. The numbing worked perfectly, and the side effects were minimal. I felt a bit dizzy for a short time, but that was it. No serious issues.
