I'm scheduled for surgery soon and I've been told I'll be given Suprane 99.9% Inhalation Sol 240ml, which is essentially Desflurane, to keep me asleep and pain-free during the procedure. The doctor mentioned potential side effects, some of which sound really serious, and I'm getting a bit worried. They mentioned signs of high or low blood pressure, allergic reactions, and this thing called malignant hyperthermia which sounds scary. I've also read that it can cause kidney and liver problems. As someone who has never had surgery before, I'm a bit anxious about all this. Has anyone else dealt with this medication? Was it as bad as the literature makes it out to be? How did your doctor handle potential side effects? Any insights would be really appreciated.

I think it’s important to also consider post-surgery care. Make sure you have good support at home and talk to your doctor about managing any discomfort after the procedure. Don't just focus on the anesthetic side effects.

Honestly, don't stress too much. The chances of having a severe reaction are low. I work in healthcare, and we see many patients get this anesthetic without serious issues. Just be ready to talk to your doctor if you have concerns, especially about specific things like kidney and liver problems. They can guide you through what to expect.

Stay calm. You’re doing the right thing by researching and asking questions. Side effects are often rare, but it’s always good to be informed. Best of luck with your surgery!

I had a similar experience. They used Desflurane during my surgery, and it went smoothly. I felt a bit disoriented when I woke up, but that wore off quickly. The nurses kept a close eye on me, and my doctor explained the potential side effects beforehand. My advice: trust your medical team and follow their instructions.

Desflurane is a common anesthetic, and while the side effects sound scary, they are rare. My mom had surgery years ago and they used it. She had a bit of a headache afterwards, but nothing major. The doctor explained everything beforehand, so we knew what to expect. Just make sure to talk to your doctor about any concerns you have.

What kind of surgery is it for? Some surgeries are more invasive and may have bigger risks, so that could influence the severity of side effects. Mine was a minor procedure, so I didn’t have much of an issue.

Desflurane is just one of those things you have to trust in the hands of the professionals. They deal with these side effects all the time - you'll be in good hands.
