I recently underwent surgery and was given Ultiva (Remifentanil) for pain management during and immediately after the procedure. I'd love to hear about your experiences with this drug. The nurses mentioned that it's great for precise pain control, but I'm curious about the side effects and overall effectiveness. What was your experience with Ultiva in terms of pain relief? Did you encounter any side effects, and if so, how did you deal with them? Also, how long after surgery did you receive Ultiva, and did the doctors keep you informed about the potential risks? I'm really interested in the good and the bad experiences to get a full picture and help others as well. What do you think?

I work in the ICU and we use Ultiva a lot. It's great for precise pain control, but it requires constant monitoring. We've had a few cases of serotonin syndrome, so it's crucial to be aware of the drug interactions. And not everyone knows that it wears off so quickly. But this is a really good drug for surgeries. And the patients feel better too.

I've heard of so many negative side effects. I think I'm ok with some pain rather than these issues. Do you think there are other alternatives we can request the doctors to use instead?

Ultiva worked wonders for me during and right after my surgery! No pain what so ever. Side effects were minimal, just some dizziness and sweating but they went away once the stuff wore off. I was monitored closely in ICU at first, but they switched to oral medication after a couple of hours. If you're going under the knife, ask your doctor about this stuff!

This is scary stuff. I was given some very detailed consent forms before my procedure, but they didn't mention all of these possible side effects. I guess I should have asked more questions. I was monitored in the ICU after surgery, but didn't know why. This stuff is intense.

I had a really bad experience with Ultiva. I developed serotonin syndrome because I was also taking an antidepressant. It was scary stuff—shivering, confusion, and a really high fever. I had to be rushed back to the ICU.
