I've been recently diagnosed with wet macular degeneration and my doctor has recommended Visudyne 15mg Inj 1 Vial as a treatment option. I'm a bit nervous about the side effects and the process itself. The description says it's given by injection into your vein and then a laser is used to close off abnormal blood vessels. Has anyone here gone through this treatment? I'd love to hear about your firsthand experiences. I'm particularly concerned about the urgent side effects listed, such as allergic reactions and changes in vision. Any insights or tips on how to prepare for this treatment would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Take it from someone who's been through it: the key is to stay calm and do exactly what your doctor says. If and when the laser part activates, it does a bit of an odd thermal sensation. I remember the blurring and the dry eyes, but it got better.

I had a bad reaction to the injection the first time. Really scary, sweat and shortness of breath all in an instant. Call your doctor if you experience what seems to be an allergic reaction

I've been through this treatment and it was a bit scary at first, but it really helped. You just have to trust your doctor and follow their instructions. There's a good chance you'll be fine

The process isn't fun, but the results can be amazing. As long as you follow your doctor's instructions and report any issues, you should be fine. So go for it, you got this

Do you know how many treatments you might need? That can really affect how you prepare mentally and physically. Hard to believe it makes your blood vessels sensitive to lasers, who would have thought?

Make sure to report any side effects to your doctor immediately. I had some minor issues after my first injection and they were able to adjust the dosage accordingly.

Prevention is key. I had a friend who developed macular degeneration and only realized how bad it was when he lost most of his vision. Take preventative measures if you can and ask your doctor about alternative treatments if you are worried

If you're feeling overwhelmed, don't hesitate to ask your doctor any questions. It's normal to be anxious and they'll be happy to guide you through the process. Side effects are rare. But tell your nurse if you see swelling, redness, or blisters near your injection site

Be patient with yourself. It took me a few weeks to fully heal from the treatment and get used to the changes in my vision. Don't rush it. I needed around 3 treatments to see real change
