Has anyone had luck with Brimonidine / Timolol? Side effects, how long does it take to lower eye pressure, and alternatives?
I was put on Brimonidine/Timolol 0.2/0.5% Op Sol 5ml eye drops for my glaucoma. It's early but I am having a lot of trouble with irritation. I'm hoping someone else has used this and can share their experience. I've been experiencing some mild eye irritation, itching and burning and stinging that is quite uncomfortable. I was wondering if this went away after the first week or two, because my doctor was a bit vague on that. I'm also curious about alternatives. How long did it take for you to find out if the eye drops are working, should I look out for any other side effects.

I’m on the same meds. I have to admit I did experience a strange side effect where my eyes felt extremely dry and itchy. I use artificial tears throughout the day and that helps a lot. I didn't have any of the serious side effects but I've heard stories from other people about the shortness of breath and abnormal heartbeat. They're scary!
I switched to another medication because of the side effects. I had heart palpitations and my doctor switched me to something else. I'm not sure the details about them, but if you're experiencing serious side effects you should definitely talk to your doctor and see if you can switch. It's a big decision to make and you need to weigh the risks and the benefits.
Compliance is a big issue with eye drops. If you’re finding it hard to use them regularly, maybe ask your doctor about a different formulation or dosage. Maybe consider doctors near you and see what other recommendations they might have.
I used them for a while, but then I couldn't keep up with the whole process. I just couldn't handle having to use it multiple times a day. I wonder if anyone else has had troubles keeping up with the regimen.
I had a doctor who recommended Brimonidine/Timolol and they did help me. I'd say it took about a month to see the effects on my eye pressure. But I experienced some side effects, mainly dizziness that got pretty bad at times, I'd say it was a 4/10 but it depends on the person. I'd recommend letting your doctor know as soon as possible. If your side effects are worse you can also try speaking with a pharmacist and try other alternatives. There are some other options out there.
