I've been prescribed Doxycycline Hyclate 200mg DR Tabs for a skin infection, but I'm nervous about the potential side effects. The doctor assured me they're rare, but I've heard some scary stories. Has anyone had a bad experience or know someone who has? I'd love to hear some reassurance or at least be prepared. Also, what does delayed release mean? Does it really help with stomach upset?

I took Doxycycline for a UTI and had no issues at all. But I did take it with food like icing on a cake and took it later in the day. But I could have been lucky.

I had a severe allergic reaction to Doxycycline a few years ago. It was scary. My throat swelled up, and I had trouble breathing. My friend had to rush me to the ER. I now have a warning bracelet because of it.

I've been on Doxycycline a few times and never had any issues. I think the delayed release really helps with stomach issues. But everyone's body reacts differently, so it's good to be prepared.

I took Doxycycline for acne years ago and had a weird reaction. The doctor said it was rare but that it was probably the Doxycycline. I stopped after a few days and it went away. But I am glad that I listened to my body and stopped.

I took Doxycycline for a respiratory infection a few years ago. I didn't have any serious side effects but damn did it mess with my stomach. I felt ok after a few days. Delays release means the medicine goes into your system slowly so that your body can process it more easily, which can help with stomach upset.

I've heard that taking Doxycycline with calcium can reduce its effectiveness. Is that true? And also, would it make it worse taking it for a urinary tract infection?
