I've been prescribed Macrodantin 100mg Capsules to treat a urinary tract infection (UTI). I've heard that it can stop the growth of bacteria in the urine, but I'm also worried about the potential side effects. The leaflet lists some serious ones like allergic reactions, pancreatitis, and even nerve problems. Has anyone else experienced any of these issues? I finished my course of antibiotics last time, even though I felt better, but I'm still nervous. Does anyone have tips on managing any discomfort or side effects while taking this medication?

I've had to take Macrodantin a few times now. The first time, I got a bit dizzy and my urine turned brown. It was gross, but my doctor said it's normal. Just make sure to drink lots of water and you should be fine. I wouldn't worry too much about the serious side effects unless you actually experience them. I also had a headache a couple of times, but it wasn't too bad. Just take it easy and stay hydrated.

The FDA has a hotline for reporting stuff like this, right? I think it was listed on the Medwatch page I saw. Might be worth a call if something bad happens. Don't forget to report any side effects even if you recover.

I switched to Macrodantin from another antibiotic because I kept getting yeast infections. It worked great for my UTI, but it did give me some nausea and a bit of a headache. Nothing terrible, though. Just make sure to finish your course, even if you feel better. Good luck!

As someone who has had multiple UTIs, I can tell you that finishing the antibiotic course is crucial. Trust me, you do not want a recurrent UTI. Just make sure to stay hydrated and monitor any side effects closely. If something feels off, contact your doctor.
